Karen Chen on Keeping Calm Under Pressure
Join Olympic silver-medal winning figure skater and Connections Academy graduate Karen Chen for a candid discussion on how she managed her shyness, overcame fears and developed self-empathy, all while under an international spotlight.

Connections Academy continues its Emotional Fitness Talks series for Mental Health Awareness Month with California Connections Academy class of 2017 alumna and international figure skating star, Karen Chen!

Karen will chat with Connections Academy’s head of counseling, Morgan Champion, and share how she prioritized her mental well-being to conquer fears, shut down inner critics, and ultimately achieve her dreams.

Karen is a decorated women’s figure skater with a 2022 Beijing Silver medal, 2017 U.S National Champion title, a 2022 U.S. National Silver medal, and three U.S. National Bronze medals (2015, 2018, 2021). A dedicated academic, Karen attends Cornell University's School of Human Ecology as part of the class of 2025. In 2017, Karen published a memoir titled, Finding The Edge: My Life on the Ice, and is currently on tour with Stars on Ice. Find Karen on social media @Karebearsk8.
